Proof

To test the quality of a typeface, designers use proofs. They are documents that use the typeface’s font files in various situations, such as different sizes, with numerous glyph combinations, in multiple languages, and varied paragraph lengths, among other things. Specimen documents often resemble those from the printing industry. Type designers use them to check out how their fonts are progressing and/or to help make more targeted corrections.
