Words of Type Encyclopedia is a project that requires funding to keep its access free for its users. Multiple sources of support have been created to help, here are what you can do if you want to contribute:
Type foundries, sponsors of the Encyclopedia
Words of Type Encyclopedia has words with illustrations using letters, glyphs, words, etc., therefore, typefaces (obviously!).
Type foundries, big and small, are invited to adopt a large selection of our words. Once the adopted words selected, the sponsors can have their typefaces used in their illustrations, along with the typeface‘s details in the caption. Sponsors also automatically become Words of Type members of the community too!
Individuals, members of WoT Community
The encyclopedia has to be a project for people, which means is has to be made by people. The words listed, their translations and their descriptions need to be reviewed, fixed, and improved by experts across the globe with various specialities who need a place to exchange (in English, and more).
To make that happen, we created WoT Community , where members are invited to meet and discuss with each other about the encyclopedia. The membership is a yearly paid subscription, starting at a reasonable price to remain accessible to most, and aims to cover its operating costs.
